ALCOHOL testing

Alcohol testing is available in a variety of forms depending on your needs.  From current impairment to consumption up to 90 days ago, we offer a variety of testing services to meet your demands.  While legal to possess and consume in all 50 states by persons over 21 years of age, alcohol can play a dangerous role in the family, workplace and community as the number one substance of abuse in America.

breath

Detection window: current impairment only

An Evidential Breath Test (EBT) also known as a Breath Alcohol Test or Breathalyzer detects current impairment of an individual.  These highly calibrated units provide an instant, numerical and legally defensible results approved for use for Department of Transportation (DOT) testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Our technicians are trained and certified Breath Alcohol Technicians (BAT) for all DOT agencies.

URINE

Detection window: Up to 80 hours

Urine alcohol testing detects the presence of ethyl glucuronide (EtG) in the body and is a very sensitive test in detecting any alcohol use. EtG is a direct metabolite of alcohol which can be found in beer, wine and liquor as well as some cold medications and mouth rinses. This type of test cannot determine if the donor is currently impaired – only that alcohol was consumed.  EtG testing can be added to any drug test panel or tested as a stand alone substance. A negative result is available within 24-48 hours.

blood

Detection window: up to 3 weeks

Phosphatidylethanol or PEth is a direct biomarker of alcohol. A PEth or blood spot test provides a mid range detection window of substantive alcohol use.  Unlike a urine test where a small amount of alcohol consumed can be detected, a PEth test will detect use of alcohol in the range of 4-6 standard drinks.  A PEth test is collected using a drop of blood from the donors finger applied to a collection card and submitted to the laboratory for testing.  Results for this test typically take 2-4 business days to return.

hair

Detection window: up to 90 days

Hair follicle testing for alcohol is available and typically used in legal settings when a person has been ordered to abstain from alcohol for an extended period of time.  Hair follicle testing for alcohol detects the EtG metabolite and can be added to any drug test panel or be tested as a stand alone substance. Results from hair follicle testing can take 3-5 business days or longer depending on the laboratory.

NAIL

Detection window: up to 90 days

Nail testing for alcohol is available and typically used in legal settings when a person has been ordered to abstain from alcohol for an extended period of time.  Nail testing for alcohol detects the EtG metabolite and can be added to any drug test panel or be tested as a stand alone substance. Results from nail testing can take 3-5 business days or longer depending on the laboratory.
